In fact, life in china is no big difference from other countries. Many big cities like Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou, are full of foreigners and you can see western restaurants, supermarkets everywhere. Students should try to embrace new people and culture here.
Chinese language
Language is very important for you to interact with the people in new country. Whatever you study, the school will always arrange some language course for you, in this way will help you adapt the new environment easily. Learn basic language skills during the class and try to interact with the local people.
Food
You can find western food restaurant in the city, or even the Muslim food is available. If they still can’t satisfy you, you can even cook yourself in the international students’ dorm. Many students have their own cookers.
Housing
Each university provide dorm for international students with air conditioner, heater, internet and so on. However, still some students prefer to live outside. We suggest that students live in the campus for the first year as renting apartment is difficult. The main concern is that most information on the internet is written in Chinese, so you may have your Chinese friends to help you or you have to know Chinese language first; while you can avoid this trouble if choose to live in the campus.
Medical health and insurance
It is required by ministry of education inChinathat all foreign students should buy insurance who pursue higher education more than 6months. Insurance fee is around 600rmb/year. If you got any health problem you can apply for reimbursement with the insurance.
Try to speak the language, sample the food, ask questions, make Chinese friends; your study in China experience will be full of happy memories.
