Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (LiXin) was founded in March 2016 as a public university by the merger of Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce and Shanghai Finance University.

Featuring quality education and research in accounting and finance, it aims to serve the economic and social development strategies of the state and the city of Shanghai; to contribute to the construction of the “Four Centers”, namely the International Center of Economy, Finance, Trade and Shipping, and to build a Sci-tech Innovation Center with global influence.

In 1928, Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce (SLUC) was founded by Dr. Pan Xulun, a famous educator honored as the “Father of Modern Accounting in China”. In 1952, the forerunner of Shanghai Finance University (SFU)- Shanghai Banking School - was established by the People's Bank of China. Both universities have been recognized in their respective long histories with SLUC known as “the birth place of China’s modern accounting education”, and SFU named “the cradle of future financiers”.

With three campuses separately in Pudong, Songjiang and Xuhui, the university covers a total area of almost 100 hectares. It provides 33 undergraduate programs and a postgraduate program in auditing. In addition to the main disciplines in the fields of economics and management, it also provides undergraduate programs in law, literature, science and engineering. The university has several scientific research institutions, such as Sci-Tech Finance Institute of Shanghai (International Finance Research Institute), Guo-Gou FTZ Finance Institute, Pudong Institute, Modern Payment and Internet Finance Research Center, Open Economy and Trade Research Center, the China Lixin Risk Management Research Institute, the Lixin Accounting Research Institute and the “One Belt One Road” Accounting Culture Research Center.

At Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance, students have the opportunity to work and study with a diverse, accomplished faculty with a strong international profile. Among the 1,500 faculty and staff members, over 1,000 teach full time and 400 are state-certified senior professionals in their academic fields. With diversified programs and an easily accessible location within China’s lively economic center, the university attracts students from across China and the rest of the world with a current enrollment of over 20,000 students. Laying emphasis on internationalization, the university has established partnerships with nearly 100 universities worldwide, welcoming about 1,000 international students annually. It provides overseas students with English-taught undergraduate programs in International Finance, International Economics and Trade, Business Administration and Accounting, as well as short-term Chinese language courses. In cooperation with professional institutions like ACCA (Association of Charted Certified Accountants), AIA (Association of International Accountants) and AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), it provides professional training for students seeking to acquire international qualifications in accounting. The university aims to become a high-level, application-oriented university of finance and economics that is renowned at home and abroad for high quality, international and professional education and research, and improve the ability and level to better serve Shanghai economic and social development.
