Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), founded in 1951, is a comprehensive university. There are 16 colleges, with a total of 76 majors for undergraduates, 114 master's degree program specialties, 32 doctoral programs. SDUST is situated in Shandong province, one of the birthplaces of Ancient Chinese Civilization. Historically there were many famous persons living here who still exert influences on Chinese culture to this today. SDUST currently operates in three locations with campuses situated respectively in Qingdao—a most charming coastal city with a view of "red tiled roofs, green trees, jade sea, and blue sky" and host of 2008 Olympics Sailing Regatta, and Tai'an—a tourist resort well-known for Mt. Taishan, a World Natural and Cultural Heritage site, and Jinan—the provincial capital known as a "city of springs".
