Lishui University is located in Lishui City, in the southwestern part of Zhejiang Province. Lishui is one of the first national ecological demonstration zones and has been recognized as a National Forest city ,Hometown of Climate Wellness in China, Natural Oxygen Bar City,China Excellent Tourist City, and International Leisure & Wellness City, earning the reputation as the“First Ecological City in China”. Covering a total area of 17,300 square kilometers—accounting for one sixth of Zhejiang’s land area—it is the largest prefecture-level city in the
province.
Lishui boasts a long-standing history and rich cultural heritage. As a famous historical and cultural city of Zhejiang Province and the first prefecture-level city in China designated as a “Hometown of Folk Art”, it abounds in historical and cultural relics. The world-renowned Longquan Celadon, Longquan Sword and Qingtian Stone Carving are celebrated as
the “Three Treasures of Lishui”. The city is home to three UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity items (Longquan Celadon,Qingyuan Wooden Arch Bridges, and Suichang's Spring Ploughing Ceremony) and 21 national-level intangible cultural heritage projects. The region preserves numerous historical sites, traditional ancient villages, and millennia-old water conservancy projects, blending natural elegance with profound cultural depth.
In recent years, Lishui has focused on chain-based and cluster-oriented development, prioritizing two trillion-yuan industrial clusters in high-end equipment and new energy/new materials, while cultivating three 100-billion-yuan clusters in fashion and light industry, specialty semiconductors, and traditional Chinese medicine and health.Additionally, the city is developing ten 10-billion-yuan specialty industrial chains. These initiatives provide a broad platform for urban innovation and talent development.
Lishui enjoys superior transportation connectivity. By high-speed rail, it takes only 2.5 hours to reach Shanghai, 1.5 hours to Hangzhou, 1 hour to Yiwu, and half an hour to Wenzhou. In 2025, Lishui Airport commenced operations, with 12 flight routes connecting core cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, facilitating the flow of information, talent, and resources.
The university operates two campuses in Liandu District and Songyang County, covering approximately 110.75 hectares. It comprises14 academic schools, including the College of Humanities, College of Teacher Education, College of Artificial Intelligence, College of Materials and Energy Engineering, College of Engineering, College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, School of Medicine, School of Business, College of Chinese Celadon, College of Music, School of Marxism,
International College, and College of Continuing Education. The university enrolls more than 16,000 full-time students and is supported by over 1,360 faculty and staff.
As a comprehensive and application-oriented university, Lishui University offers programs across 11 academic disciplines. It currently offers 47 undergraduate programs, and 11 master’s degrees in fields such as Agriculture, Nursing, Accounting, Materials and ChemicaEngineering, Resources and Environment, and Tourism Management.
Lishui University is committed to global engagement. It offers distinctive Sino-foreign collaborative programs, including a Caring Science program in partnership with Gävle University College and an Arts program with Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft.
