The history of Foshan University (FOSU) is dated back to 1958, when Foshan Normal College and Foshan Branch of South China Agriculture College were merged. Located in Foshan, a thriving node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with abundant cultures and booming industries, the University today has been evolved into a beacon of high level institution of science and technology in Guangdong province,China, covering a total area of 362 acres over 3 campuses, namely, Xianxi, Jiangwan and Hebin.

She offers 60 Bachelor degree programmes for 18,416 full-time undergraduates and 10 Master degree programmes for 2,714 postgraduates. Over the past 5 years, the University has gained 5950 awards, ranging from technology to culture sectors, provincial as well as national.In 2025, she is listed the 122nd among universities in Mainland China by the U.S.News & World Report Global Best Universities Rankings. From 2021 till 2023, consecutively, she was among the TOP 1,000 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Her 6 disciplines, i.e., Engineering, Materials Science, Environment/Ecology, Plant & Animal Science, and Chemistry & Agricultural Sciences have been among ESI Top 1%. The University is keen on international connections and global exchanges. She is the board member of the “Alliance of China-Thailand Universities”. Recognised by the Ministry of Education (MoE), she has become one of the key members in the “China-Arab University 10+10 Cooperation Plan”, and the first batch member of “German Bosch Applied and Technical Skills Talent Training Cooperation Pilot Project”. Taking an active and efficient role in cultivating talents with international perspectives, the University has set up joint programmes with oversea universities, Sino-Irish and Sino-German double degree programmes for undergraduates majoring in Automation, Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Environment Engineering, Product Design and Digital Media, for instance. By tapping potentials of cross-border scientific research cooperation, she connects global intellectual resources, jointly training postgraduates with prestigious institutions abroad. In addition, she takes lead in establishing multilateral cooperative scientific research platforms such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Micro-Nano Optoelectronic Technology, the International Centre for Membrane Biology and Environmental Research, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Agricultural Product Quality Safety and Nutritional Health, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Hydrogen Energy Innovation.
